Michael Holton, Principal
Mr. Holton is a Principal of Smart Technology Ventures III (since 2001). He currently serves on the boards of directors for Availigent and Lucix. He led the investments in Nomadix (acquired by Maginet) and Storactive (acquired by Atempo). He was a board observer on Strategic Data Corp (acquired by News Corp). He was also a board member on Kreido (went public [OTC:KRBF.OB]). Prior to joining the fund, Mr. Holton was a vice president at Montgomery & Co. for 5 years. He provided strategic guidance and investment banking expertise to leading global companies such as Sprint, DirecTV, Telstra, Siemens, Hughes, Symantec, Boeing, SBC - as well as high profile start-ups such as ReplayTV (sold to SonicBlue), Viziworx (sold to OpenTV), and eRemote (sold to Pioneer). Mr. Holton helped launch the seed stage venture arm of Montgomery & Co. Mr. Holton has 6 years of engineering and operational experience working for Honeywell. As part of a managerial rotation program, Mr. Holton worked in design, manufacturing and project management - eventually managing a large multi-million dollar product line shipping to Boeing. Mr. Holton graduated from UC Berkeley with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He received his MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles. |
